Discovering your Caledonian roots with the help of native Scot Iain Lundy

Let’s face it, everyone wants to find at least one Scottish ancestor in their family. It’s a discovery that opens a new world of possibilities. Once you establish an ancestral link to Scotland, you are entitled to wear the family tartan, and display a family crest. You can then plan your pilgrimage to the land of your forefathers, and seek out the castles, country houses, and geographical locations they inhabited.

If you are looking for a professional genealogist to help you find your Scottish roots, then look no further. I am a born and bred Scot whose work has taken me to every part of Scotland, from the dramatic Highlands to the rolling hills of the Borders, the farmlands of the east coast to the rugged, windswept Western Isles.

Scotland is unique in terms of ancestral heritage, just as everyone’s family background is unique.  No other country in the world can offer such a fascinating and colourful heritage. Your ancestors may have worked the fields; sweated in the heavy industrial workshops; fished the stormy seas to put food on the nation’s tables; or been captains of industry and commerce.

No matter their station in life, it was in little churches like the one pictured above in rural Perthshire, where they were ushered into the world at christening and baptism ceremonies, married to their loved ones on the ‘big day’, and buried when their lives ended. It was here they were hatched, matched, and dispatched.

I know Scotland like the back of my hand and I can bring your Scottish ancestry to life, not just by building your family tree, but more importantly by telling the stories of your forefathers. Were they veterans of foreign wars? Did they help build the massive ocean liners launched on the Clyde? Why did they emigrate to the New Lands of America?

If you want to follow in the footsteps of your forefathers, I can custom-design a ‘pilgrimage route’ for your visit back to the homeland. And, although Scotland is my specialty, I am happy to trace ancestors in England, Wales, Ireland, the US, Canada, and throughout Europe.

DISCLAIMER: Unfortunately, genealogy research doesn’t come with a guarantee. Over time, many millions of valuable historical documents have either been lost or destroyed, often through fire. Others exist but are not publicly accessible. What I can promise is that I will do everything in my power to find as much information as possible about your ancestors.
